<p><font color="#000000"><strong>Error: &quot;Connecting to server&quot;</strong> &#8211; </font><font color="#000000">The address of the update server is known, but ESET NOD32 cannot connect.</font><font color="#000000"> </font></font><br /><font color="#000000" size="2"></font><br /><em><font color="#000000" size="2"></font></em><font color="#000000" size="2"></font><br /><font color="#000000" size="2"></font><br /><font color="#000000" size="2"><strong>Error &quot;Cannot connect to the server&quot; &#8211; </strong>Connection to an update server cannot be established, reason not given. <p align="left">The TMP and TEMP system variables are not defined in the system, or the directories to which they point do not actually exist on disk. Please make sure the aforementioned variables in <strong>System properties &#8211; Advanced &ndash; Environment variables</strong> actually point to existing directories.</p>

<p align="left">The file Program files/ESET/nod32.000 is corrupted for some reason (e.g., due to a disk error).</p>

<p>If your update method is to connect (through the internet) directly to ESET&rsquo;s servers, please check the following: </p>
<ol>
<li>Make sure an Internet connection is already established before you perform the update.</p>
</li>
<li>Make sure a correct server is selected from the drop-down menu in the <strong>Update </strong>setup (if you update ESET NOD32 from the Internet, it should be set to <strong>Choose automatically</strong>). If you update ESET NOD32 from a local network and encounter this error, please contact your network administrator for the exact path to the mirror
</li>
<li>If you are using a firewall, make sure the NOD32krn service has access to the Internet enabled.
</li>
<li>If you are using a proxy server, be sure the connection parameters are set properly in the <strong>Advanced Update setup &#8211; LAN setup</strong> (if the proxy server requires authentication, make sure a correct login name and password are specified).
</li>
<li>If you are not using a proxy server, make sure the use of a proxy server is disabled (<strong>NOD32 Control Center &rarr; Update &rarr; Setup &rarr; Advanced &rarr; Setup &#8211; Proxy Server section</strong>).
</li>
<li>Restart your computer.
</li>
